Revelations Chapters 19-22
Today, we’ll be going through the final chapters in the bible.
In this chapter, John describes the songs of victory that he heard in heaven as Satan and his beasts were struck down by the King of kings!
“Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:
‘Praise the Lord!
For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Let us be glad and rejoice,
and let us give honor to him.
For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,
and his bride has prepared herself.'” (Revelation 19:6-7, NLT)
We are the bride of the Lamb. And we must prepare ourselves for the Lamb’s return.
Satan was thrown into the bottomless pit and locked down there. He was no longer able to deceive God’s people.
The people who had died for the sake of the Lord’s Kingdom came to life again and reigned alongside the Lamb. This was the first resurrection.
Then God delivered the final judgement of all people. All of the dead stood before God’s throne. Everyone whose name was not written in the Book of Life was thrown into the Lake of Fire with the devil.
After this, there was a new earth and a new heaven, filled with the glory of the Lord. The old heaven and old earth had disappeared and this new earth was like a beautiful bride for her husband.
“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” (Revelations 21:3-4, NLT)
One day, God is going to make all things new. All the things we fear will be no more. We will be victorious over all things as God’s children.
Our new home will be overwhelmingly beautiful and perfect.
“So he took me in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God and sparkled like a precious stone—like jasper as clear as crystal. The city wall was broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates.” (Revelation 21:10-12, NLT)
The city was made of pure gold and the gates made of pearls! There was no need for a Temple or a church because the entire city was filled with God’s presence. It will be our home with God.
There was no need for a sun or moon because the Lamb of God was their light. There was no darkness or evil. Only life that comes from God.
An angel showed John a river flowing from God’s throne with trees on each side. There was no night there because the glory of the Lord shined upon all the land forever and ever.
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book.” (Revelation 22:7, NLT)
Let us look joyfully toward the day that Jesus comes again. We must endure the pain and suffering that this world brings, but if we persevere it will be so worth it! To suffer persecution in God’s name is the best thing that can happen to us because it is all for Him. The joy of being reunited with our Creator will carry us through until that day comes.
“Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 22:12-13, NLT)
Let us continue to live righteous and holy lives so that we may be in the Book of Life.
Thank you for joining me on this spiritual journey of reading the bible in one year.
Have a happy New Year Everyone!
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people.” (Revelations 22:21, NLT)*
